Kids 4 Clean Air Colorado Extends Deadline for 2013 Poster Contest

*Due to the recent flooding in Denver Metro/Front Range communities, Kids 4 Clean Air Colorado has extended the deadline for the 2013 poster contest to Friday, September 27th. Details are included below. 

 

Kids 4 Clean Air Colorado -- a partnership of organizations representing air quality interests in the Denver Metro Area and across the state -- is pleased to present a poster contest open to all Colorado students in the first through eigth grades. The Kids 4 Clean Air Colorado poster contest asks students to learn about air pollution and how it is formed, and to represent in their posters the simple steps we can take to help reduce air pollution and keep the air we share clean.

There are four age groups and four themes for the contest:

  • 1st and 2nd Grade – Put a Cap on Ozone!
    • Learn why it is important for your family’s car to have a properly fitting gas cap.
  • 3rd and 4th Grade – Engines Off!
    • Learn why it’s important for mom and dad to turn the car engine off when they are stopped, especially while waiting to drop-off or pick-up at school.
  • 5th and 6th Grade – Stop at the Click!
    • Learn why you should not overfill a car’s gas tank.
  • 7th and 8th Grade – Maintenance Matters!
    • Learn about the importance and benefits of regular vehicle maintenance, like oil changes and keeping tires inflated.

Each entry must be accompanied by a parent or guardian-signed entry form, and must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013

The top three posters in each age group will receive the following:

  • 1st Place:
    • Bicycle Artwork featured in Air Care Colorado stations
    • $1,000 environmental/sustainability project grant for student's school
    • Radio Disney awards rally at student's school Chance to record a clean air message commercial at Radio Disney
  • 2nd Place:
    • Bicycle helmet Water bottle
    • Artwork featured on Air Care Colorado website
  • 3rd Place:
    • Water bottle
    • Artwork featured on Air Care Colorado website
